Human Rights Activism
Y-FEM is an organisation that aims to make sure that human rights are protected and upheld particularly for groups that have historically been oppressed and vulnerable. Through innovative activism, storytelling and advocacy programs, Y-FEM aims to capture the uniqueness of the feminist movement in Africa and the various contexts within the continent.
The organisation also serves as a resource hub and source of guidance and support for feminist activists and organizations in Namibia, providing necessary materials such as;
Procurement of legal research for human rights issues affecting AGYW
Translating contextual barriers
Mentorship and support for grassroots activists and new feminist organizations

Research
The Y-FEM research is mainly focused on keeping the government accountable to its people by regularly assessing whether or not the laws in place;
Fully meet the needs of and protect adolescent girls and young women
Are effective and useful
Are being implemented and enforced successfully
Y-FEM is also interested in aiding any young feminist researchers regarding any research or study that is related to or useful to the feminist movement in Namibia.
Mental Health
Young Feminists Movement Namibia is a space for learning, unlearning, growing and sharing; co-creating, dreaming a space for generating new feminist knowledge; a space for nurturing our courage and creativity, making the personal political and developing our voices; a space for sisterhood, solidarity and healing.
Y-FEM brings this space available to young women in various communities through individually developmental workshops, providing a platform to facilitate safe-spaces and wellness dialogues for women and through the co-ordination of many welcoming and inclusive events.
Y-FEM also provides access to mental health support from licensed professionals to feminist activists.

To build the visibility and voice of young women through:
- Raising consciousness of all forms of discrimination and oppression that have an impact on young women’s lives and choices.
- Building the feminist leadership capacity of young women by providing them with knowledge on feminisms and skills in research, critical thinking and analysis
- Building and strengthening participation of young women through advocacy and lobbying on young women’s rights
- Promoting the creative expression of young women through creative writing, virtual arts and other art forms.
Body
To promote young women’s ownership and control over their sexuality and reproduction through
- Exploring the power of sexuality and pleasure in young women’s lives,
- Educating young women on their sexual and reproductive health and rights
- Advocating for comprehensive sexuality education in formal and informal settings and for youth friendly reproductive health services
Money
To promote the economic empowerment of young women through:
- Encouraging young women to aim high in their education
- Sharing information on scholarships and training opportunities
- Advocating for job creation for young women.
Y-FEM encourages and invites girls and young women between 16-35, including rural women and girls, LBTQ+ girls and women to engage in our content, volunteer or intern with us. Contact us for more information.
